external monitor on hp g56 laptop

i have a hp g56 laptop witha busted screen, wanting to know if i took the screen out, if it would use the external monitor as the default. as it is now, it wont load the external monitor until windows loads,there for i have no way of getting into bios to the settings.

Shut down, add an external monitor and reboot.

You should be able to interchange between the laptop screen, although broken, and the external monitor by pressing Fn and F4 at the same time.

This is of course dependant on whether the integrated graphics chip is working.

First turn off your notebook, then connect your external screen and then start your notebook

If you are having trouble viewing the external monitor, click f4 (or the key with a screen symbol ) to switch the screen image among display devices connected to the system.
