I am having difficulty diagnosing a problem on my sister's computer and would like your assistance in finding a solution for the problem. She has Windows XP installed and I can't tell if it's the speakers going out themselves or maybe its a hardware problem. As always thanks in advance.

To rule put the speakers try them on another source.

Please provide you make and model of computer, soundcard and if it is an onboard soundcard or and addon

Things you can check is in your device manager to see if your sound card is listed, if it is but as a yellow question mark or if looks normal
