Gateway p5-120 won't start up

I have a Gateway P5-120 that powers up but has no video.
The machine emits three long tones on powering up.
The lamp on the monitor never changes to green from amber.

To forward to you suggestions that once were given to me, reset the bios but be warry that you may destroy your computer... Its your call to make and highly dangerous. Or you can wait for the proffesionals to come in and give you a real solution. ;) :tazz:

I figured it out. I got this machine second hand and whoever parted with it, did so after removing the memory. I installed some memory I lying around my office and it now works. I expected minimal memory to be present so at least the BIOS would come up and a very slow operating system.
