Hello and good day,
I have a Dell desktop and Dell flat screen monitor, with XP Pro.....

Every time I go to search the Web or log on to a site like Facebook, google etc;
and than try to navigate the page, my monitor flickers up and down,
jumping all the time.
I can't read anything until it stops. It stops after about 2 or 3 jumps.
Its really hard to try and write something.

I tried to goggle and other sites for a fix to know avail.

Is there anything that I could do to try and fix this??

Thank-You,
John god

I am not going to promise anything but I will attempt to help you.

Can you tell us what steps that you have tried other than replacing the monitor please.
As most of this will be a shot in the dark approach I do not want to waste your time suggesting things that may have already been tried.

I just picked up a Keyboard and Mouse.
I'm getting a new Monitor Cable.
Haven't installed these yet as I was away.

I did try the refresh rate.
It only has 60 and 75. I put it on 75 to no good.

After I install the other components I will post.

  • Hit the start button then type Msconfig.
  • Then under the start up tab disable/un-tick all items.Hit Apply
  • Under the Services Tab put a tick next to the box that says Hide all microsoft services.
  • Un-tick all that remain.Hit Apply and Ok your way out of there.
  • Then reboot the machine, into normal mode and see how it responds from there.
  • Let me know the outcome then I post with instructions that are most relevant to your situation.

I did what you said or tried to.

I couldn't find Hide all microsoft services.

I did uncheck everything and restarted in Normal Mode.

It seems a little better but still jumps a little.

In startup what should I keep checked?

Would like to see if we could get it a little better.

You should keep your av started up only.
As far as services you will need all of those.

Hit the start button then
Right Click My computer
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Properties>>>>>>>>>>>
Harwdare Tab>>>>>>>>>>>>>Device Manager.
Scroll down to the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controlers Left click the + to the left of the drivers.
Right Click and uninstall all of your Primary IDE drivers there most likely will be more than one of the Primary IDE Drivers Make sure and un-install All of them prior to rebooting.
reboot.
