I'm trying to connect my laptop to a monitor because my screen broke can't afford a new laptop right now but an error pops up saying disk error occurred press ctrl alt del to restart but when it turns off and turns back on same thing pops up help

Did you try pressing the function button with the corresponding screen changer button?

If you are getting "disc error" on the external screen, then the external screen is working.
A disc error means that the system upon booting up can't find your hard drive.
What type of laptop is this. The manufacturer would help us.
Have you looked in the bios to see if the drive is seen?
Is it showing a hard drive while you are booting up?
