I have been using TFC.EXE for quite some time now and am now experiencing the following problem:

When I click on TFC.EXE to start the cleaner, I get an error message that Microsoft Security Essentials is not running and that I should hit the start button in the error message. When I do this my computer is froze up. I cannot even shut it down. I did notice that Security Essentials was running before I started the cleaner. It was shutdown by TFC.EXE & then froze up.

Any suggestions for a solution to this problem will be appreciated.

This sounds to be an attention grabbing False Positive from MSE where TFC has shut it down to run a scan.

Consider this excerpt from here....

Before running it will stop Explorer and all other running apps. When finished, if a reboot is required the user must reboot to finish clearing any in-use temp files.
