External Hard Drive Did Something Undesirable

first things first

He already had files/folders on the external, before getting windows 8

Its these files which are lost and he wants back to put on windows 8

he used EaseUS data recovery to find deleted files

Let us consider a hypothetical scenario Peter where the OP had set the 1.5TB drive as a partition, complete with a drive letter and it had some files on it.

What you're saying is that Windows 8 then deleted that partition (thereby rendering it as Unallocated Space once more), created a new 30GB partition and somehow managed to save the files that were already on there.

The OP cannot have done this as he didn't know where the remainder of the 1.5TB had gone and he admitted that the missing files were actually in that Recovery partition.
