Did a clean install of windows a few weeks ago, and have had this error ever since, i figured i could fix it later. Guess not, i've tried to run Chkdsk and sfc /scannow but, no avail. It does find the files, but cant repair them. It happens on boot, or anytime i try to switch user, log off, Ctrl+Alt+Del. I've also tried virus scans, but i was pretty sure it wasn't anything due to the fact this happened on install. Once i hit yes on the error everything continues as normal, though.

This is the error.

This is the /sfc scannow output(or the part i think matters).

Did a clean install of windows a few weeks ago, and have had this error ever since,

On a clean install, if the HDD was formatted and the install media is good, then I will stand corrected, but I am under the impression that you cannot, unless there is another problem, eg a failing hard drive etc, have a dynamic link library file error

You may have a dll error when other software is installed but not at the time of installation

Have you tried re registering the dll file

If you have a 64 bit OS you need this

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282747

even although the file is in the system32 folder

If you have a 32 bit system you may simply type at the right prompt

regsvr32 <filename>.dll

as here

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.2.9200]
© 2012 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Users\Malcolm1>cd/

C:\>cd windows

C:\Windows>cd system32

C:\Windows\System32> (so you type there)

Well I am about to sign off as I am in the UK and it is 0130 but what you have not said is which cmd you used

Try this one

regsvr32 <filename>.dll

at the prompt shown on my last para of the previous post

I have a 64 bit install, so i used the SysWOW64 directory. Also tried Sys32, but it came up with the error that is expected. Sorry for not including

No need to apologise, whatsoever

Do you have the file in the Windows system32 folder

Just looked at the sfc log again

There is something else wrong.

1. Do not be annoyed please, at me asking. You talk about a clean install - from where please. Are we discussing a genuine windows 7 installation media or some copy

NOTE I am not suggesting you are trying anything wrong, but copies are freqently - BAD copies.

2. Run a full chkdsk /r

on the drive that windows is installed on

3. What please was the reason for the reinstall - this MAY just provide a clue

I really do have to go but I will wait ten minutes for you

^Genuine windows 7 OEM

NOTE I am not suggesting you are trying anything wrong, but copies are freqently - BAD copies.

2. Run a full chkdsk /r

^I'll do this and post, so you can get to sleep.

3. What please was the reason for the reinstall - this MAY just provide a clue

^Did a clean install for a new hard drive, my image wasn't right, so i had to. I suppose, then, it could be a bad sector or something..

OK

I have to go

If it is a new hard drive it is unlikely - of course - that it has a bad sector

I would run the chkdsk /r in spite of that

You can get the report of it in event viewer on windows logs - on left pane as here

http://www.sevenforu...viewer-log.html

depending on that result I would create a new user account and see if you have the same problem I I have to say from what I see in the sfc logs you will have but it is worth a try

If that fails I would copy the file from the installation disc

http://www.sevenforu...lation-dvd.html

and if that fails, drastic as it is I would run a custom install - previously known as a repair install of windows, so that it should leave all else intact

http://www.sevenforu...indows-7-a.html

and if that fails - you will have realised as well that you are looking at a clean install again

UNLESS I have missed the obvious - which I do not think I have - hopefullly

GOODNIGHT
