Ad-Aware SE Plus edition offers you all the power of the Personal edition, but has been enhanced with additional powerful features to protect your privacy. The Plus edition includes real-time protection through the Ad-Watch real-time monitor that allows you not only to detect privacy threats to your computer; you can also block them from integrating into your system in the first place!
Ad-Aware SE Plus edition also has more scanning capabilities, more detailed log files and many new command line parameters that allow you to update, scan, log, quarantine, and remove silently and automatically.
Real-time Protection with Ad-Watch
Ad-Watch is the real time monitor included in the Ad-Aware SE Plus and Professional Editions. Ad-Watch goes beyond what other security suites offer by adding another layer of protection to your system proactively. It runs silently in the background, watching for Malware/parasites that try to install on or modify your system.
More information about Ad-Aware Plus is here
The Plus version has more advanced features than the Personal version.
Any questions, just ask.....

Thanks for turning to us today here at GeeksToGo Forums, Ad-Aware SE support area.
Some commercial software groups offer "free" versions of their products just for the purpose that if it proves effective & reliable for your PC security needs, you are provided the opportunity & advantage of "added" features by going the next step to an upgraded "paid" version.
That is solely a decision you make according to if it meets with your needs.

Versions:
Personal,
Plus,
Professional,
The build is the same, but the versions are different.
Features that are greyed out are avaliable in the paid versions.
But as Easter said:
