For a while now, my touch pad has randomly stopped working from time to time. however, i can;t find anything matching my problem. the weird thing about it is that the cursor will not move, but double tap on the pad does work and will highlight whatever is nearby the cursor. it has just gotten worse with the problem only persisting a minute maximum before and now not leaving at all at this very moment, forcing me to use my emergency mouse which i keep for situations like this. my computer is a compaq and the touchpad works through Synaptics v7.5. thank you in advance for your help.
Through device manager, the computer says that the device is working.
