Hey,

So I want to build a Computer and it is the first time I'm doing it, but I am positive I can do it.
Anyway this is my rig so far: My link
I will be mainly using it for gaming and a little bit of video editing with Sony Vegas.
I already own windows 7 and my budget is around 1000$ monitor and keyboard not included.
The monitors I was looking at are either this one or this one. They both have HDMI input, because I would like to connect my PS3 with it,
Keyboard nothing fancy something like this

So is this okay? if not, what would you recommend?
Thank you

I like your confidence, and you will be able to build your computer, we will supply a How To and be hear guide you.

Your link to CPP has a bug, it ends up at the build I have just configured.
I have not included a keyboard and mouse, they and a monitor are the items you should (if possible) inspect personally and try them out.

A build for you to consider, let us know what you think and ask questions.

hey,

thank you for the fast reply.
I tried it again and hopefully it works this time: My link
I like your build, but I would need to change the case because it does not have a usb 3.0 port.
What do you think about my build?

Thanks for the update, link now works. Your build will work but is a little unbalanced. My opinions below.

The rig is a gamer with a little video editing so you do not need an i7 CPU, a i5 is the sweet spot and money saved should be used elsewhere, Ie, GPU.

So that you are aware. Where a boxed retail CPU comes with a supplied heat-sink and fan, from both Intel and AMD, it comes with a warranty.
If you change the heat-sink for an after market one, you will void the warranty. The stock cooler is more than capable of keeping the CPU within it's thermal footprint, so you do not need the Antec Kuhlar. I advise using the stock cooler first and if you really feel it is not good enough, fit a different one and I would stay with air cooling and stay away from liquid cooling.

Motherboards, Compare, Almost identical, the Asrock has eSATA, XFast features, Dr Debug, 3 years warranty. The Asus has WiFi, 1 PCIe x 16 2.0. I favour the Asrock, you can add a WiFi card later if you really need it. > http://www.newegg.co...0^13-131-820-TS

RAM. I recommend DDR3 -1600 (I had allowed 16GB for video editing if you get a little more serious in the future)

GPU. The 660 ti outperforms the 660 > REFERING TO the stock GTX 660 TI
"
Game performance
The GeForce GTX 660 Ti is a card that is downright perfect for those gaming at 1920x1080/1200. Your performance will be near perfect and completely in balance with the games of 2012. In Battlefield 3 you are at roughly 49 frames per second on average with 4x AntiAliasing, 16xAF at Ultra quality settings. That's in 1920x1200 by the way. If we take Anno 2070 at the same resolution with the same settings in the very best quality we average out at 78 FPS. Crysis 2 with the High Quality texture pack in DX11 at Ultra settings .. roughly 53 FPS. These are the scores that will offer you a great gaming experience at that Full HD monitor resolution." Review, > http://www.guru3d.co..._review,28.html

Case, Trooper. I take note of user reviews where there is consistency good or bad. If your read the specs carefully, it does not have USB 3.0 on the case front, not that it is all that important as apart from some flash drives and external HDD enclosers there is not much else they are used for at the present, USB sockets are available on the Mobo back outlets. It does not have air filters, it only has Molex connectors for the fans, which makes for limited speed control, wire management is hard. The Antec case is far superior.

My suggested build will give better performance is cheaper. Don't mind at all if we have another go, If you feel that you want a particular item, OK by me, the final decision will lay with your.

Okay you fully convinced me to get your recommended rig, the only thing is the Motherboard, because I will need the Wifi card.
So if I where to go with your recommended motherboard would I need to buy a wifi card extra or would I have to buy it anyway?
My question for the the Antec case is, it does not come with a usb 3.0 panel, correct? I would really like to have a usb 3.0, because of my external hard drive.
Besides that I'm good to go and will start ordering my parts today and I want thank you for your great help!

Please don't rush into buying anything yet. Post your question about the 2 mobos, integrated or add on WiFi in the networking Forum.
YUou will have 2 USB 3.0 outlet sockets on the back of the case next to the KAn Socket. You can add USB 3.0 + card reader to a front bay on the Antec case for about $20.
Am full of food and wine at the moment, so will post again tomorrow.

OK, that is the way I would have been inclined to go, will sort out a WiFi card. Kn the meantime.
Download your Mobo user manual to get to know it and it is sometimes more up to date than the one that comes in the box. > http://www.asrock.co...el=Z77 Extreme4

I've downloaded the manual of the mothetboard and I'm almost done reading it.
About the wifi card, do you have any suggestions? I was looking at this one? Or should I go for sth else?

Hi.
I should have asked you this earlier. Is you internet router or access point wireless enabled? Can you give the brand and model number so I can check it out?

The Asus wireless adapter is a bit slow.

Providing your router is WiFi enabled, this card would be good, not too expensive, Duel Band, fast, has very good reviews, > http://www.newegg.co...N82E16833166076
2 other items a reccommedn for your build,
A Anti Static wrist strap like this, > http://www.newegg.co...N82E16899261005
A internal motherboard mini system speaker like this, > http://www.cwc-group.com/casp.html

Are you able to get to a Micro Centre Store?

Your welcome. Then good for the WiFi Card.

What is that mobo speaker for?

Fits to any Motherboard, Has nothing to do with your normal sound system. It is controlled by the BIOS. When you start the computer the BIOS performs a test of what parts you have installed and configures them POST, so when windows starts, It knows what you have and where to find it. This happens every time you start the computer, if the test fails at a given point, (say a fault on the RAM, or no RAM installed) you will hear a beep code. It does not tell you exactly what is wrong but tells you where to start looking for the problem.

The do actually have them on Newegg, but expensive compared to other options. > http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812201032&cm_re=motherboard_speaker-_-12-201-032-_-Product

Can you tell me what input sockets are on the monitor you are going to use? especially the HDMI, or post the brand and model.

All OK as far as inputs are concerned.
Just a little issue and so that you are informed. The monitor on Amazon, Asus VS247H-P 24-Inch is in fact a 23.6 inch being sold as a 24 inch ( VS248H-P)
Pretty good monitor, Popular, good reviews.I have added Asus VS247H-P 23.6 inch and the Rosewill WiFi card to the CPP.
The VS247H-P 23.6 inch available at Newegg, $179, free shipping, $20 rebate so you end up $10 better off.

Update, > http://pcpartpicker.com/p/G5yz The parts listed are compatible, you are ready to order and of course we will answer any other questions you have.
