Steam, gta 4 problem

I downloaded gta 4 from steam and when i try to play online i always get stuck on the windows live login window in the game, i tried opening the ports that the live, microsoft, xbox team prefers! I tried installing all the new drivers and updating everything on the pc related to the game, but ofcourse i had no luck! What should i do? Btw it is definately not a hardware problem cause i know that for a fact
