After I log in and the windows start up I get in a window called
RUNDLL the message:
"Error Loading p2esocks-1014.dll, specific module could not be found".

this is so frustrating. Can anyone help me go forward? This site does not seem to be people friendly if ones computer knowledge is limited.

Almost there, just a little cleaning up to do <_<. Reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu). Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold:

C:\Program Files\BroadJump\
C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm

Next, please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Sorry, I am a bit confused as you say "remove the following files in bold" but none of the files are in bold, so which do I remove? Or do I remove all on that list?

nathan forgot to bold them. Delete this file:

C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm

If you want to remove Broadjump do it via add/remove programs.

reply with a new log when finished, of course after a reboot

I managed to get the machine on safe mode and via the Control Panel-Add remove program I found "Broadjump Client Foundation" is that the same thing as C:\Program Files\BroadJump\ ? The last reply I received implied that I might not want to remove this. What is its job and should I remove it?

How do I know that I am able to view hidden files? Please bear in mind that there is a computer idiot on this end ..................

What route should I take to locate C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm ?

Whilst waiting for a reply I left the machine on (but not on the internet) and when I came back I had a warning message on the screen to say that Win 32 Trojen had been dectected. Is this another one, or part of what I am trying to get rid off?
