I plugged in a flash drive and then went to boot up my computer. On start up it said needs to check disk for consistency. Then it started scanning the files on my flash drive. I am worried that there is a virus or a hacker of some sort trying to find my ip address. I read it saying something about trailing files, which sounds like someone or something is tracking a file on my flash drive? I immediately unplugged it, before it could finish. Any thoughts?

It's not malware. Next time let it scan the thumbdrive, it's just running chkdsk. If it completes without error, you're good to go. If it keeps finding errors you need a new thumbdrive.
