Hello, I am a new user, and this is my first post. I have an old gateway w323-ui1 laptop and right now, it's processor is at a sad 1.4GHz. The processor is an Intel celeron. This is really all I know. I am hoping to upgrade this to a new Intel Core Duo 2.0GHz processor so I can get some games to play, as well ad increased speed. Would this processor work for my laptop? Hello

You will need to get your mother board model and see if you have the same socket type, before you could upgrade to a faster cpu...

Having trouble finding (GOOD) documentation on the mobo for this laptop..... I am speculating since this laptop is 5 years old that any newer CPU will work ....but still looking however..

OK i will correct myself your mobo has a 478 socket, and according to the site for the new cpu it supports a 478 socket as well... assuming i have the correct mobo model thru my research..Can you confirm if it is an Acer MOBO?

This is what I managed to find online:

GATEWAY W323-UI1 MOTHERBOARD (SYSTEMBOARD)

BOARD HAS:

VIA VN800 CHIPSET

S3 UNICHROME PRO INTEGRATED VIDEO CHIP

BOARD TAKES:

INTEL CELERON OR PENTIUM M CPU
MAX 1GB DDR2 RAM

APPLICABLE PART NUMBER(S): 40-A07560-C400

It doesn't say the socket number though...
