Hi everybody,

the problem began when an object dropped from 5' up onto the back of the top of my PC that had thing over it. The little shock was sharp but small because damped by other objects lying there. So I wonder if it was because of the physical shock, or something else cuz the object is a powerfull wifi AP USB device (unconnected). Electronics free falling can be disturbed (even destoyed) by EM fields genereated by the potential differential induced in the fall. I wonder if it is sound to think that an EM was generated by the falling device that disturbed some MoBo components of else ? As soon as the object dropped on the tower, the screen turned black and on rebooting, I always get error messages like one of those two blue error attachments.

I managed to ran a Spinrite 6 (Steve Gibson's) rescue disquette and all my DD is in good shape and no cluster defects. That's it. No more PC access despite having tries to restore first and reinstall (on another empty existing partition) XP Pro SP3 with installation CD; attempts that have failled. The reinstall did go up to a point when a startup was triggered but then... deadend. When restarting into this new XP partition, right out the bat it freeze with a warning screen saying that a d:\windows\system32\hal.dll file is missing ! So... stucked into the two XP profiles !!!

No safe mode access and unable to restore to a previously working state !!! I can get to the safe mode DOS prompt though. That's as far I can go.

BartPE leads to one of the two blue error pics. Hiren's Boot CD does show the start menu but "Mini Windows XP" leads to one of the two blue error pics or stall endlesly, and the "DOS Programs" menu and "MemTest86" menu leads to the last black error pics.

The first error pic does show different error string on the third line from time to time.

Please help !

PS: how do we place a pic in the body of the post and not as attachments at the end ? The insert image or media tool seams to only accept web URL ?

Hello iBenny

Please provide information about your computer, is it a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if it is provide the model name or series number (not serial) providing these details will enable us to better assist you.

Try restoring the MB back to the factory default settings in the BIOS, we don`t have your computer specs to be able to advise on the method required ATM.

If no joy try removing and then re-seating the Ram to make sure it is securely seated in the slot/s.

Hi phillpower2,

I have a PC bought from another person that builds pc 10 years ago (see downbelow).

I manage to have fixed most of the problems after having run a memtest86 that showed I had bad memory from 75% up of my 2G ram. So I reinstalled by swaping the 2 memory modules and my problem appears to be gone. Appears beacause all my Rescue CD now works without and error BSOD.

The big problem is that my ordeal began on my C:\ original XP Pro SP3 installation. In despair of not being able to access my PC, I decided to install a second XP Pro SP3 with someone else's installation CD (XP PRO SP3) because I have not been given one when I bought the PC. I installed it on a pre-dedicated empty D:\ partition and the installation... crashed because of my memory glitch. Now my memory is fixed and all my rescue CD works :-) !

But when I started back my PC to check if my original XP installation was also rescued... I got stucked on the pending reinstallation on the second partition. Fine, let's proceed to the finish !... I got stucked at the registration key window :-( !

The key that I extracted from my original XP installation months ago with a Windows key sniffer is NOT accepted !!! neither the one inscribed on the PC case !!! Sounds logical since it's not the installation CD regkey !

Now I'm stucked at the registration key window :,-( ! Any suggestions ?

BTW : if I redo an installation over the previously unfinished one, to the same d:\ partition at this point (because a missing important (!) file has been skipped: 0404.lng of the SIS 900 ethernet card, and I have it now), will the system choke, go AWOL, or dig it no problem ?
