I have been scouring the web for assistance for the last 14 hrs. There are SO many sites dating back to 2 years or a little more posing the same problem, or very similar. However, aside from links to fix-it and tweaks here and there, none of which work for me, nor did they work for all the other frustrated posters over the last 2 years, there seems to be no solid answer.

I have a dvd drive and a bluray drive. They both work fine, once, and then they disappear. If I restart windows, they are back, and I can use them again, for a little while. I cannot find any problems. This is nothing new. Surely there is a fix for this given the number of posts over the years with the same problem. Anyone?

Are these optical drives internal or external Duggedy?

How long has this been going on and how old are the drives?

What is the make of your machine and what is the operating system?
