While diddling around with my computer, I noticed the I have as a default setting I am allowing remote assistance/ access on my computer. Should I turn that off?

Gday ShowMe.
There is no need to turn it off as even when at Default, "allow" it is safe as when someone wants to connect to your computer, you still have to give them permission,
but you can, if you wish, turn it off. Some more information.
