sometime ago while browsing in IE 5 my computer stopped responding upon restarting I got the following on a blue screen
security warning
A fatal error in IE has occured at 0028:coo11e36 in vxd vmm
<01> + ooo10e36.error was cause by trojan-Spy.html.smitfraud.c
*system cannot operate in normal mode
*scan u r PC with antivirus\spyware remover

even after scanning with antivirus & anti spy I am still gettin the same message
on ,my desktop since then my IE homepage has changed & I cannot alter it
& i cannot put any wallpapers on my desktop because the background option in
desktop properties has dissapeared
