Wireless network settings not saving

I am trying to get my wife's dell mini running xp to connect to my wireless network. It has been working previously but while she was on vacation, One of her friends connected to the hotel hotspot. I deleted that network from my list, but now it has a dns issue and the network password won't save. There are 8 digits on the one it has saved and mine is 10 digits. I can connect with my laptop, just not hers.
Any help would be appreciated...
