This is the weirdest problem I've ever had. I absolutely cannot access a specific site. it is www.wccnet.edu I've tried using different browsers and deleting temp files and cookies. I've also tried clicking on the link to the site from google or my email. Nothing is wrong with my connection- I can access every other site just fine. Nothing is wrong with their server either because everyone else can access this site except for me. I've tried using my laptop, my desktop, and my sister's laptop - no luck. Someone please help, and fast!

Hi,

Your system can't reach the site lets do a more deep test...

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.
Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply.

Edit: Forget to ask do you have any other computer connected to the same network that can access the site?

**** End of log ****

meant to ask..... can I trust this site with my IP adress? It has shown up in both of these logs. I guess it doesn't matter anymore haha.

We have three computers using our wireless internet and none of them can get to the site. Here is the log.

It could be a problem on your Internet Service Provider...
Try this, power off your 2wire router, wait 2 minutes then connect it again. Restart the computer and try to access the site.

All the IP's in the log are from your private network they say nothing about where you are located. You don't need to worry.

It must be a problem in your ISP side for some reason it can't reach the server.

Try this access http://www.hidemyass.com on the input box type http://www.wccnet.edu and click the yellow button Hide My... you should see the site you want.
For security reasons please don't enter any credentials to access the site. This is only a way to check if the remote site is working or not.

You should call your ISP and tell them about your problem.

It's the Internet Service Provider, the Company that gives you access to the Internet, in many cases also to Television and Phone.

Because of the way Internet works, normally there isn't only one path from on point to the other, internet traffic passes for several routers depending on the source, destination, etc. one of the paths can have problems and the others are ok.

The problem may not be with your ISP but they can find where the problem happens.

ok. I really don't think my ISP is the problem and I cannot stand their customer service so I really don't want to talk to them.

is there any other reason you could think of?

Sorry but no. If you have this problem only in one machine it could be something in your end but its not the case because you tried several computers.

Your configuration is fine, DNS is working, your computer can resolve the name to the correct IP but you can't ping the IP like you can for www.google.com and www.yahoo.com

You can check where the connection is failing run CatchOutput again and paste this text:
tracert www.yahoo.com ^| tracert -h 18 www.wccnet.edu

Two black command prompts will open one after the other please don't close them wait until notepad opens with the log.
The resulting log will have some information related to your ISP if you don't want to post publicly please PM me the information.

I had a similar problem some time ago I could access certain sites only at home and not at my work due to some connection problem on international links. My home and my work use two different ISP's...
