Hi Tidenova,

Step One: Validate Windows

You are using a hacked version of Windows 7. To continue receiving assistance from us you need to validate your copy of Windows 7 with the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) Product Key that is located on a sticker on your computer or on your Windows 7 cd. The COA looks something like this:

Posted Image

To resolve this issue, follow the instructions here.

Step Two: MGADiag

Please run the MGA Diagnostic Tool and post the report it produces:

  • Right-click on MGADiag.exe and select Run as administrator.
  • Select Yes, if you get the User Account Control prompt.
  • Click Continue.
  • Ensure that the Windows tab is selected (it should be by default).
  • Click the Copy button to copy the MGA Diagnostic Report to the Windows clipboard.
  • Paste the MGA Diagnostic Report back here in your next reply.

What I need in your next post:
1. The report from MGADiag.

Blmadara,
I paid to have this computer put together by someone. It was made without a disc drive. I do not have a sticker on the computer (as it was put together by someone) and I do not have a CD (as it has no disc drive). I was not ever informed at any time that this was a "hacked version" of Windows 7, as I was charged for it. If it is, I will take care of it, but it is not something I have the capacity to take care of at this time. If I cannot receive assistance from you further, this is your choice. I did not realize this site was a subsidiary of Windows.

Thank you for your assistance, I will be sure to never come to this site again if that's the rules.

Hi Tidenova,

The majority of people that are using hacked versions of windows don't realize that they are. In your case the RemoveWAT hack has been used to bypass Windows Activation Technologies (WAT) and make Windows think it has been activated. If you've paid somebody for a legitimate copy of windows you should first go back to the person who built your computer and ask him for a genuine Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate key or for your money back. Sometimes threatening police action works, too.

If that doesn't help there are 3 things that you will need to do to get Windows properly activated.

Step One: Buy a legitimate license

First you will need to buy a legitimate license key for Windows 7 Ultimate from a reputable seller. Once you have that key you can move on to step 2. Please note: it has to be Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate because that is the version of Windows 7 that is on your comptuer.

Step Two: Run WAT Fix

Now you will need to fix the problems that RemoveWAT has done to your system. Luckily the process is automated and instructions can be found here.

Step Three: Validate Windows

Finally, follow the instructions here and when asked for your license key enter the one you purchased in step 1.

Step Four: Run MGADIag

Please run the MGA Diagnostic Tool and post the report it produces:

  • Right-click on MGADiag.exe and select Run as administrator.
  • Select Yes, if you get the User Account Control prompt.
  • Click Continue.
  • Ensure that the Windows tab is selected (it should be by default).
  • Click the Copy button to copy the MGA Diagnostic Report to the Windows clipboard.
  • Paste the MGA Diagnostic Report back here in your next reply.

What I need in your next post:
1. The MGADiagnostic report.

Hi Tidenova,

You successfully removed the RemoveWAT hack, but the license key that is entered is a generic one that can never be validated. You will still need to get a legitimate license key.

Step Two: Validate Windows

Finally, follow the instructions here and when asked for your license key enter the one you purchased in step 1.

Step Three: Run MGADIag

Please run the MGA Diagnostic Tool and post the report it produces:

  • Right-click on MGADiag.exe and select Run as administrator.
  • Select Yes, if you get the User Account Control prompt.
  • Click Continue.
  • Ensure that the Windows tab is selected (it should be by default).
  • Click the Copy button to copy the MGA Diagnostic Report to the Windows clipboard.
  • Paste the MGA Diagnostic Report back here in your next reply.

What I need in your next post:
1. The MGADiagnostic report.

Well if we are merely running this to check if I have a legitimate copy, then I might as well stop you right there. I realize I need to take this up with the people that put my computer together, but that is not going to be a quick conversation. On top of that if they do not comply then I'm going to have to buy a copy myself. I'm a college student at the end of my semester (i.e. at the end of my scholarship money), therefore I cannot afford to purchase a copy at this time. Thank you for your help up to this point, the rest I will have to take care of when I can afford it (if I need to afford it...hopefully not).
