Hi

I have recently installed AVG Anti-Virus and it found but could not remove a virus in the p2esocks DLL file... and all it could do was place it in the virus vault... which I did...... however... on the next system reboot.... I got a blue-screen error stating that "Error Loading p2esocks-1015.dll, specific module could not be found"

The virus that AVG found in the file was P2e.Q

Firstly... what is p2esocks used by.... this is mainly a curiosity question... but if I don't need the application that uses it I can just uninstall it... i'm guessing it is an app on my PC as friends with Windows XP do not have this file at all.....

Secondly..... could you give me a solution to solving this problem permanently

thanks for any help that you can give... this is driving me crazy LOL

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.
