Hello,

You already appear to be working with someone with the same infection as I have. I read through there, and I have tried to manually remove this infection. Unfortunately, none of the file names or registry entries that are typically installed with this infection are there.

Coincidentally, I had just downgraded to AVG free 2013 edition over the weekend after the 30 day trial period for the full version had ended. While it's possible that I might have picked up the infection in the day or so that lapsed between the trial period ending for the full version and my installation of AVG's free edition, but I am wondering if this could be more of a false positive. AVG can't find the infected files, I can't search for them and I can't seem to find any of the registry entries that are typically installed with this virus. Have you heard of AVG throwing false positives for this particular virus? I don't seem to have the other symptoms that the poster in the other thread is complaining of such as, unusually poor performance, blue screens, etc.

I am at work right now so I am not able to run your diagnostic scans, but if you let me know what you need and what software is needed to run these tests, I will be happy to do that when I get home.

Lastly, if it turns out that I am infected, can a reformat eliminate it? I can also repartition if necessary.

Thank you!
