Can anyone help with the above problem please? I am using windows 7 32 bit and the usual monthly backup was due to run.The backup failed as an error had occurred - 0x81000031.I have checked online and it appears to be a problem with a removable location in the library? I have followed microsofts instructions to restore default libraries and then tried to do a new full backup but nothing happens.Would be obliged if someone could help.

Read this thread: Windows 7: Windows Backup failed 0x81000031.

It has several suggestions for fixing this problem.

Also, correct your original post. You said the error was 0x081000031, but I'm fairly sure it was really 0x81000031. Makes a big difference when searching for other occurrences of the error.
