I have a computer Dell Vostro 220s that until recently would connect to the internet with no issues. It is hardwired to my Cisco E3200 router. I have changed ports and the Ethernet cable to the computer. I have connected with another computer without issue. My other device connect correctly wirelessly and hard wired. Apparently it is my one Dell computer. I ordered a new PCI Gigabit Ethernet card and installed thinking this would correct the issue, but it still shows limited connectivity. Please help if possible.

Thanks,Dan

Hi Dan,

Can you please download MiniToolBox save the file to a USB flash Driver and run the tool on the computer with the problem.

Before running the tool close all the open programs, next run MiniToolBox and check the following options:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Devices (Only Problems)
Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply.

No, put 8.8.8.8 on the Preferred DNS Server the first DNS box, leave the second empty.
Please ignore the IP's used on the image.

Hi,

I have two more questions:

- Which Antivirus programs you have installed?
- Did you uninstall any Antivirus or Firewall software recently? If yes please post the name of the programs removed.

Ok there is some differences related to Sophos in your first log comparing to the last one, also the Event Viewer show some errors related to Sophos.

I would try this uninstall Sophos, restart the computer and check if you can access the internet, if it works reinstall Sophos and see if it continues to work.

It seems to have been an issue with the Sophos firewall. Once I uninstalled the firewall I was able to access the internet.

Thanks for all your help,
Dan
