First of all, note that I'm from Germany and 15 years old. I give my best to write correct English.

Since yesterday I have that problem: If I like to play Fifa I get a fuzzy picture. Today games like Battlefield 3 and BlackOps2 are lagging all the time (aiming with guns laggs). It never done before - I had never problem with my graphic card. But now ...
I've overclocked this videocard a little bit, but that had never been a problem before.

Windows 7 HomePremium 64 bit - All software is up to date!
Processor: AMD Athlon II X3 425
Graphic card: AMD RADEON HD 6870 (by Sapphire)
hard drive space: 500 GB hard drive
RAM: 8GB RAM (DDR3)

I think it was a bad idea to overclock my graphic card.

Some notes:
  • No malware on PC
  • CPU utilization is always 10 - 15 % by surfing(sometimes a little bit more)
  • Graphic card: 45 Celsius when I'm surfing, 70 - 80 Celsius when I'm playing
Last changes on the PC:
  • installed a VM to test some things
How can I solve this problem? What other information are needed?

Hello Gerrit

Can you provide the brand and model name or number of the PSU, you may need to remove the side of the case to obtain these if you do not know them, let us know if you need help with this.

Download Speedfan and install it. Once it's installed, run the program and post here the information it shows. The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.
If you are running on a vista machine, please go to where you installed the program and run the program as administrator.

Posted Image
(this is a screenshot from a vista machine)

To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... then after typing in any response you have... click on browse...desktop...find the screenshot..select it and click on the upload button...then on the lower left...after it says upload successful...click on add reply like you normally would.

Depending on the results we may need to run further software for comparison http://www.cpuid.com.../hwmonitor.html

Screenshot instructions are provided to assist those that may read this topic but are not yet aware of the “how to”.

Yes, it should be that: http://www.coolermas..._name=GX%20550W - I think there are no differences between this and the "german" version.

Look at Temp2: -128C, what does that mean?

Thanks for help!

Thanks for the screenshot and PSU information

The PSU is a good brand and is over and above the 500W output that the video card requires so it may not be the cause.

The Speedfan results are not showing us what we need so please provide a HWMonitor screenshot http://www.cpuid.com.../hwmonitor.html The -128 reading is an anomaly which often happens with Speedfan.

Just so that you are aware overclocking accelerates the end of life expectancy of hardware due to the additional heat and voltage that O/Cing generates.

What do you mean? Do you mean how I reseted the graphic settings?

No, please see below.
AMD Vision Control Center > Power > AMD Overdrive > disable AMD Overdrive :)

The voltage readings for your MB show that the settings are way too high.
The CPUs maximum voltage is 1.425V and the Ram is 1.5V maximum, compare those readings to the HWMonitor readings.

If you have not overclocked anything other than the video card something else has changed the settings.

To restore the MBs default settings you need to re-start the computer and keep tapping the key that will get you into the BIOS, once in the BIOS look for the restore default or most stable settings option and choose whichever of those options that is available, press F10 to save and exit and then Y to accept the changes.

Allow the computer to re-start and see how it behaves.

I had a bigger problem now. I've gone in BIOS and I clicked "load setup defaults". After that I have to make a repair installation (do we say this in English?) and now the PC is running. I haven't tested it yet, but now I'm going to. I don't know if the settings had changed after this repair but we will see.

I've only overclocked my graphic card, nothing else.

Loading the default BIOS settings has nothing to do with Windows and so restoring the defaults would not cause the OS to require a repair installation.

The MBs factory defaults restores settings such as the MBs voltages and the boot order etc
.
Are the time and date set correctly on the taskbar.
This is very important as it will affect updates being installed.

I think I have forgotten something:
On my PC are Windows and Ubuntu. So on the start of the system I can choose which system I wanna start.

Are the time and date set correctly on the taskbar.

All things are correct.

Please check for and install any important Windows updates.

Provide an updated HWMonitor screenshot for us please.

No change in the voltage readings but you will note that the CPU temperatures have dropped considerably.

How are things running now.

can you confirm that your MB has an integrated video chip please.
