E drive on my laptop isn't working

My E drive isn't working so i checked device manager and the driver status is "Windows cannot start this hardware device because it's configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged".(code 19)Can you help please,

Can you tell us the brand and model name or number of the notebook and what type of device is the E: drive.

It's a toshiba satellite C660-1F1 and the device type is DVD/CD-ROM drives

Try restoring the system to a point before the issue started http://windows.micro.../system-restore

If no joy;

Right click on the device in the Device Manager and uninstall the present driver, restart the notebook and allow Windows to reinstall the driver.

I did a system restore and fixed it.Have you got any tips to prevent doing the same thing again?Thanks.

Glad you got it sorted and thanks for the follow up :thumbsup:

No tips to offer I`m afraid without knowing what caused it, always keeping Windows and other important software such as your Anti Virus protection up to date + having system restore points enabled on your computer are tips that I can suggest though.
