First off, this is is a legit Sony PS3 controller, not some knockoff. I was playing online when, in the middle of a game, the controller stopped working. The light indicating player 1 was still on, but the controller wasn't responding to any input. I plugged it in to the USB cable in an attempt to fix the problem but saw no change. After a few minutes of troubleshooting the lights on the controller turned off. I pressed the PS button and the controller turned on. I resumed my game, only to have the controller repeat its problem again after only a couple of minutes.

I pressed the reset button and the controller's lights turned off. Now it will not turn on at all, even if it is plugged into the USB cable. It was fully charged when I began using it, so I doubt the controller has a dead battery. I took it apart and confirmed that the battery is securely plugged in. I even tried putting the battery in the freezer for a bit just in case the battery was somehow at fault. Last night the right joystick was acting erratically. It was so bothersome that I switched controllers. That was my first warning sign, I guess.

Is my controller shot? Is there something else I should check or am I going to have to go drop $50 on a new controller?
