Can't run Google Earth

I downloaded Google Earth. When I click on the icon on my desktop I get this message:"Google Earth has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Learn about resolving crashes (highlighted)". I think I downloaded GE again recently to see if that fixed the problem, but it still does the same thing. Thanks for any replies.
