Hey Gang, I was wondering if you might be able to help me out with an issue i'm having with my Dell Dimension E521 desktop computer. I use an acer monitor with it which still works fine. The trouble started a week ago when i went to turn on my computer, pushed the power button and all i got was a flashing green battery symbol on the front of the machine. I unplugged it and left it for a few days only to find that it now only flashes a dull amber light. Can someone please help me with this??? :( I have so much on my desktop and I really need a miracle here.. :upset:

Hello iburiedpau

The information that you have provided suggests that there is a power issue and possibly a bad PSU or internal connection (this may include a loose memory stick or add on video card if one is present).

Your computer has four diagnostic LEDs on the front (number 1 to the left - number 4 is furthest to the right) can you check what they are showing please and let us know, to help with this ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dimension_desktops/dimension-e521_service%20manual_en-us.pdf

Hey guys, As far as lights go, whenever i hit the power button the numbers 1, 2, 3, and battery symbol briefly flash a light orange color then immediately go out. Any idea on what that could be? Thanks

Unfortunately my knowledge doesn't extend as far as the power supplies, but do not worry about your data, as it is on your hard drive and should be fine. You can easily pull it out if all else fails.

Try a known good PSU, reseat the Ram and if one is present the video card and make sure that all internal connections are securely connected (including the cooling fans).

PSU
Ram
Video card (if one is present)

Let us know whether or not you do have an add on video card and if so please include the brand and model name or number of the card for us.

You are welcome BTW
