Windows 8 Limited connection

I have a new HP laptop that came with windows 8. I can connect to a network but its always limited, (Cant browse the internet). I have borrowed my Daughters and mothers computers and no problems. I'm guessing its a windows 8 problem? any advise would be amazing. Thank u

Have you installed the ISP software to your new notebook, you should have a disk that was provided with the router an SSID and either a WEP/WPA number, the latter two must be entered as they are your security settings (key in the lock to open the door/gateway etc)
