Did you verify if NET Framework 1.1 SP1 was ever installed on your computer?

Lots of computers were started with NET Framework 2 and the version 1 and 1.1 were never installed

sometimes it can be that they were installed in the wrong order or somehow became corrupted, if you want to reinstall the .net framework, do this:

https://skydrive.liv...B68B3A275AD!120

go here and download files 1,2,3, and 4

perform them in order, on 2 you have to be connected to internet, it will fluctuate, but will eventually download, be patient, installing .net's is a very lengthy process.

after step 4 is finished go directly to Microsoft updates and do an express scan, install all.

-------------------------------------------------

one more thing, some updates cannot be installed on a restart, the pc must be shutdown, (mostly the ,net)

you can tell by going to start, shutdown, in the box that opens you will see a little shield type icon on the shutdown button, if you see this shutdown, not restart, and the updates will be installed, please be patient here, they will install just takes time. :)
