Also, I would prefer to create it on a flash drive but how do I tell my laptop to boot from it?

You would have to go into the bios and check to see if there is a option to boot to a external usb in the boot sequence. If so put it in the second boot device and move the hd to the third spot. Remember to save before you exit.

I only suggest this to verify if it is the cd disk Toshiba sent you or if it is the system causing the issue. With the ISO from Digital we can then install any needed drivers from the drivers disk Toshiba sent you hopefully in the recovery disks.

Just tried it using a flash drive. SAME EXACT results...absolutely nothing different is happening...shall I just throw it in the garbage or does it need a new hard drive?

I'm soooo excited....it's now asking me if I want to install windows 7 or repair my computer. What should I select? I currently have the USB in it that has the ISO installed that you told me to download in your most recent posts.

First step is if you have data you want to keep then a repair installation.
If you want start fresh then install Win7.
The full install will format the drive so all data will be lost.

Is it safe to say that the discs that Toshiba sent me were defective?

Not yet. Once everything is reinstalled and the drivers disk hopefully they sent you works then we can test the other from within windows.

Okay, for 25 minutes the laptop hasn't gotten past the "setup is starting" screen. Is this what it's supposed to be doing?

It may be trying to identify everything first.

Yeah this isn't right. Try rebooting and see if it will go farther. I was all happy but now I don't know.
