-Do you use encryption? if yes turn it of on the router (accesponint) and try again. Then we are sure it's not the password problem.

i dont use encryption and its a new acer aspire 1360 so the drivers are up to date

does it work with a static ip adress on your wireless card ?

well.. assign an ip adress to that card manually and then try a ping to the gateway.

Just to add to Rico750's suggestions,
Did you setup the SSID on the routers web site??
Are you using the wireless cards utility or the Windows utility to manage your connection ??

i know how to logon to the website but what do i do like pppoa or dhcp or something. i ticked to automatically manage my connection
