I have an HP DC-5850 SFF desktop computer that has on-board graphics.. I plan to upgrade soon but until then, here is my question... The on-board graphics offers 2 options VGA or DVI connection. Will I get better results connecting to the DVI connection with a DVI to HDMI adapter than I would connecting to the VGA connection?

similarly, would a DVI to VGA adapter give me better results than connecting directly to the VGA? (I wouldn't assume so)

Some info below. What we need to know is the inputs on the monitor please.

DVI to HDMI adapter, would give no sound to the monitor/TV speakers > http://dvi-to-hdmi-r...n-solution.html

would a DVI to VGA adapter give me better results than connecting directly to the VGA?

I don't think you would see any difference as you are still viewing a VGA signal, Lower quality than DVI.

I could run an audio cable to the tv that I am using as a monitor but as it is now, I use a stereo system so the audio problem wouldn't be an issue for me. I have HDMI and VGA inputs on the tv. it is an Emerson LC190EM1 HDTV.

VGA is analog while DVI and HDMI are digital so DVI to HDMI is your ticket.

Agreed.

When you do upgrade and are still connecting to the TV, use a HDMI cable.
