I need help, I recently found out that whenever I try to download anything. On my download lists where it shows what is processing and what is downloaded, when a download "completes" it automatically says "This file has been found to be a virus." and it gets deleted. I'm not sure how I got it, but I do want to get rid of it! I can't download anything, I've tried my Microsoft security essentials, (it won't let me access it anymore, I have had it downloaded for 2 years or so, and now I can't even access it because of this virus.) not even my firewall from the start menu will get up. I sure hope this isn't the end of downloading on my computer :(.

Hi we will need to run one programme .. This can be done from safe mode. If this fails to run or you are unable to get into safe mode could you let me know what your operating system (windows flavour:) ) is and whether you have access to another computer along with a USB stick you could use

Download OTL to your Desktop
Secondary link
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.

  • Select All Users
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

    netsvcs
    BASESERVICES
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    services.*
    explorer.exe
    winlogon.exe
    Userinit.exe
    svchost.exe
    /md5stop
    dir "%systemdrive%\*" /S /A:L /C
    CREATERESTOREPOINT

  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
  • Post both logs

I went on safe mode by going to my system config, and I went to boot and clicked on safemode and had it to where it allowed networking, I restarted I was on safe mode, and it still deleted my files from downloads and said it was a virus. I have windows 7 (Laptop.)

Do you have access to another computer to burn a bootable USB ?

Download the following three programmes to your desktop :

For 64bit systems
2. Windows 7 64bit RC
3. Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64

For 32bit systems
2. Windows 7 RC
