Gday Themkman.
A big yes. (heat-sink)attachment is compatible, as there are no real specified mechanical differences in the attachment brackets. The main physical difference is an extra pin on AM3+ processors.
There are two basic styles, original type, blowing down onto the heat-sink, have compatible mechanical attachment. Tower type, they come with with their own mounting system to fit to the MB.
Example, > http://www.noctua.at...produkte&lng=en

Is this for better performance, or overcloccking?

thank you for your response, I am looking at over clocking the cpu a little as i am having serious issues with frame rate on ARMA games, they are very CPU hungry, even though my hardware meets the recommended requirements I am either having a bottleneck on the cpu or the game is very badly optimised for my pc,as my frame rate is sitting around 10 - 15 fps. I can how ever play battlefield 3 on ultra at 60+ FPS.

my rig is a AMD FX 4100
Nvidia GTX 660TI
16 Gb Ram

No worries Themkman I wasn`t sure if there was a problem with it, to be fair there are only three user reviews but they each give it 5 stars, it is mentioned that it was small and it is not a bad price :)

Less expensive option http://uk.pcpartpick...er-ccsiberian01
