Address bar times out

When I clicked on the address bar in IE (I've discovered it's not only IE) the cursor will only stay active for about 30 seconds and then the cursor disappears and nothing on the page is active anymore.

While typing this I had to click in the message three times to re activate. I'm typing away and the cursor disappears and I'm not typing anything...

So frustrating.... I'm not even sure how to explain what's happening...
