It is recommended that we carry out full scans pretty regularly.
Can anyone please explain that with Malware Bytes etc a full scan takes a matter of minutes but with Microsoft Security Essentials it literally takes hours.
Both of these are the free versions.Are they scanning the same programs and information or is it more likely that Microsoft is scanning much greater in depth.

I kind of complicated to explain, but in a nut shell MSE is an antivirus with a very large database of known viruses, and will look for hundreds of infections in every file. Malwarebytes is an antimalware program, that works with a much smaller, more specific database, and looks in most common infection areas of the computer. Malwarebytes is designed that way to run with your antivirus and not case any conflict, or hog computer resources.
