I have an Asus G73sw with Windows 7 and a net gear router. For 2 weeks I have had "no connections available" and therefore
Have not been able to connect to the internet. I have reset my router,
Reinstalled all of the drivers, reset my computer to factory defaults,
Pinged the network card to make sure it was working, and tried installing
The intel updates from another computer. My wireless capability is activated and
I'm not having my internet blocked by cox.
I would appreciate help if anyone thinks they can solve this.
Thank you.

Hi :welcome:

Can you connect using Ethernet cable? Do you have another computer to download files from the internet and a flash drive to transfer the files to the sick computer?

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.
Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Devices (Only Problems)
Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply.

Sorry for intruding SleepyDude but I wondered is the internet light on on the router? the one that indicates a live connection and the wierless one, it's a silly question but I felt worth asking.
All so to check to see if your wireless card can pick up a signal from the router run cmd prompt as admin and type netsh hit return and then type wlan show networks
It will display a list of networks it can pick up.
Sorry to intrude SleepyDude, I will butt out now :whistling:

Hi,

Lets do a little refresh...

Open Elevated Command Prompt Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
Now type or copy and paste the commands below one at a time hitting enter after each.
ipconfig /flushdns

netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

nbtstat -R

nbtstat -RR

netsh winsock reset catalog

Exit

Restart the Computer.

Which browser do you use? Can you try access the internet with a different browser?

After the above steps if you can't access the internet try to disable Trend Micro wait 10 seconds and see if it works with the Antivirus disabled.

No it didn't work. The internet still has no available connections.
I have internet explorer and nothing else. Also the other computers
And cell phones in the house have access to the internet on my WiFi
So I'm pretty sure its isolated to just this computer.

The first log shows that the computer is connected it gets an IP address and can reach google and yahoo sites.
The problem could be with Internet Explorer I would try to download Firefox for example using another computer and install on the sick one using a flashdrive.

Okay so I tried another browser and still no dice.
However now when I turn the computer on the internet works
For about 30 minutes and then it goes into limited access and says
My wireless network but also says "no network access"
I feel like we're reaching a break through ;)

Hi,

Can you connect the laptop directly to the router using an ethernet cable? It would help to understand if its a problem with the wireless card or with the Windows configuration.
