I got infected with the ICE Ransomware 6 hours ago and I've been trying every suggestion I can to kill this thing off. Hitman Kickstart didn't seem to work - it would start loading Windows XP Pro and then restart before it loaded, without Hitman. Kaspersky spent ages downloading 84 kb of updates which seem to do diddly squat. I tried to use a XP Pro disc to repair but got nowhere. I'm presently entering hour 2 of what Bitdefender thought was a 23 minute scan and it has found only one infected item in all that time - what it is I won't know for another 3 minutes and 42 seconds, which it has been estimating as the time left for well over an hour. This forum seems to get results - it keeps coming up in Google, so I figured I'd register and see if I could get some help!

Hi assuming you have access to another computer and a USB stick of at least 1 GB

Download Peazip to the desktop
Run and install the programme
As it installs this page will show, deselect the AVG ticks
Press decline and it will then install cleanly

Once the USB has burnt then

[*]Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to the flash drive.

  • Reboot your system using the boot USB you just created.
Note : If you do not know how to set your computer to boot from USB follow the steps here
  • As the Programme needs to detect your hardware and load the operating system, I would recommend a nice cup of tea whilst it loads :)
  • Your system should now display a Reatogo desktop.
  • Locate the flash drive and run FSRT
  • The tool will start to run.

  • When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.
