I can only suggest now that you have a local tech take a look at the notebook for you, as Kemasa has said it could be the back-light that has failed which would need to be replaced by a technician in any event as you have already said you do not wish to dismantle the notebook yourself, the inverter could also be the cause which is less expensive to replace however they are often replaced together as a safeguard + checking them out will also allow for the video cable to be checked.

I would only contact Samsung if the notebook is still under warranty as the shipping costs alone would go along way towards having a reputable local tech or tech store repair the notebook.
