Hi there,

A friend recommended me this website, and often comes here and swears by you guys! xD

OS: Windows XP 32bit Home Edition.

[The Problem] Well, I was installing some software the other day, and mid install the power plug was accidentally pulled. Upon restarting my PC, the windows loading screen began to load for about a minute before turning black, blue screening, and restarting. Now, I'm not very computer savvy, but I'm thinking there's some kind of registry error, and I've lost my windows XP cd, so I can't run a repair.

[My question] Can you please recommend some sort windows boot disk that I can maybe buy that's capable of running chkdsk /r on start up? I'm not even sure if such a thing exists, but I'm also open to -any- other possible solutions.

Thank you very much in advance!!! :(

Hi :welcome:

You can build a Windows XP Recovery Console ISO, following this:

Download ARCDC from Artellos.com.
  • Double click ARCDC.exe
  • Follow the dialog until you see 6 options. Please pick: Windows Professional SP2 & SP3
  • You will be prompted with a Terms of Use by Microsoft, please accept.
  • You will see a few dos screens flash by, this is normal.
  • Next you will be able to choose to add extra files. Select the Default Files.
  • The last window will allow you to burn the disk using BurnCDCC
Your ISO is located on your desktop.

Uh oh,

So the recovery disk thing worked great,

but when I try to run the repair, i get this message:

Stop:C0000139 {Entry point not found}

Any idea what this can mean? :(

Any reference to a file besides the error?

Before running chkdsk make sure you confirm the assigned drives by using the map command to confirm that your system drive have a drive letter assigned.

Have you tried booting in to safe mode and choosing "last known good configuration"?
Also the admin password is usually blank.
