4. Download and run the following HijackThis autoinstall program from Here HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

A. Close ALL windows except HJT

B. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

C. POST the log in this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')


DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

Hi vinny,

Don't worry, I'll go as slowly as possible. Always read my entire reply before starting anything and ask questions if you are not sure before proceeding.

Let's start with a clean slate:

1. Go into ADD/Remove programs and UNINSTALL both copies of HijackThis.

2. Then re-install the copy that I had you download.

3. Finally, run HijackThis, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

I did uninstall both copies of HijackThis.
But there is still HJT Set up on my Desktop.
Should I do anything with it?

If that is the copy that I had you download then that is the file you need to install HJT again.

If you are not sure, then delete it and redownload the file from the source I recommended in my first post.

The first step we must take is to secure your internet connection which has been hijacked by a program called New.Net. This can be seen in the 010 entries in your HJT log.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1. Backup the registry by going to Start>Run> and type ‘regedit’ without the quotes. Then on the file menu choose ‘backup registry’ in Windows 9x and ‘export’ in XP.

2. Download the LSPfix.txt and read the readme file.

3. Download LSPfix.zip or LSPfix.exe

Use this program only if you can not connect to the Internet after removing New(Dot)Net.

4. Follow these steps to remove NewDotNet:
A. Go to Start -> Control Panel.
B. Uninstall NewDotNet (New.Net) from Add/Remove Programs

If there is no uninstall program listed then do the following:
Go to http://www.newdotnet.com/removal.html ; scroll down to Procedure 4 and follow the removal instructions.

If you can not connect to the Internet after removing New(Dot)Net, please run the LSP-Fix program downloaded earlier, and click on the "Finish" button.
***To start the LSPfix....Close all windows except LSPfix

Launch LSPfix.zip and install to its own folder, then click on LSPfix.exe. Or click on LSPfix.exe and it will launch the program.


5. Reboot your machine.

6. Finally, run HijackThis, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

Just follow the directions provided in Step 1. I cannot make it any simpler

Your infections are quite complicated to remove and will require that you know your way around a computer a litle bit. If you are alltogether unfamiliar with even the most simple procedures in Windows, you may want to consider having a friend assisst you carrying out these directions. Some of our users have chosen this path as they have become totally overwhelmed by the tasks that they are required to do.
