Hi Phel
I don't know if these things matter, but when I was trying to uninstall the programs, the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware was OK, but I couldn't find the ESET - it wasn't listed in the Uninstall programs list - as tho' it had already gone.
With AdwCleaner - when I ran it a notice came up saying I had an outdated version, and should load the download page. I loaded the page, and then exited it without doing anything. The when I looked again, AdwCleaner was gone.
Finally when I ran OTL Run Fix I got this note after the reboot:

All processes killed
Error: Unable to interpret <[EMPTYTEMP]> in the current context!

OTL by OldTimer - Version 3.2.69.0 log created on 09072013_124009

Files\Folders moved on Reboot...

PendingFileRenameOperations files...

Registry entries deleted on Reboot...

I still have the OTL Clean Up to do - I'll wait for your reply first.
Cheers

Make sure that you are copying the whole contents of codebox in Step 3. After that proceed with CleanUp.

All done! :)

Thanks very much for your help Phel. You've been very methodical and patient and I really appreciate the work you've done with me to clean up my computer.
Thanks also for the safety tips.
Is there any way I can make a token donation to the cause?
Cheers
