Hello everyone .. I am not sure if I am posting in the correct forum but it has to do with my CD ROM ... The top one does not open and the bottom one does not play. The light is on but it isn't doing anything. I hope I am explaining myself correctly.

The last time I was on here regarding this tower I think was back in January? I may be wrong but I had to uninstall and install a new drive with the help of all of you here I was successful in replacing my drive without losing anything on my old sick one. My CD player was working back then ... but I have tried suing it and haven't been able too. I had been extremely busy and i now have the free time to come on here.

I have a Dell Intel Pentium D Processor 830 (3GHz) w/Dual Core Technology. 2GB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 500 GB Serial ATA II Hard Drive (7200 RPM)

You mean in "my computer" under "Devices with removal storage"? If yes .. Then Yes I see two icons .. one is DVD Drive (D), the 2nd is DVD-RW Drive (E)

OK that's good you can see them listed.
Have you updated the drivers for them recently? if so you could try rolling back just the disk drive's drivers.
Go to Device manager and select the DVD drive icon and then right click choose properties and then the Driver tab and click Roll back Driver.

You can type device manager into the start menu search box and then press Enter, then you'll get to the device manager.

NO, here I explain it again.
first, go to start;
then, enter "device manger" these two words into the search box
next, press "Enter" key
Finally, you open the device manager window.
