I have a PC (Windows XP) and a new Dell Inspiron15 laptop (Windows 8).
I have one port only on my Belkin ADSL+2 Modem with Ethernet plus USB Port to connect ADSL1 from my provider iinet, therefore I can only connect one unit at a time, which isn’t satisfactory.
I want to access my PC (folders, emails, etc) from my laptop, at times from ‘on the road’.
Do I need a new modem for wireless connection and if so is this how I gain access to my PC from my laptop?

I would buy a router which will allow you to connect to multiple devices at the same time.

To make your PC accessible from "on the road", simply download a program such as Teamviewer and setup unattended access. This will allow you to connect to your PC, providing you remember the ID and password.
