Home Server (HELP)

I am thinking about getting a home server but am no sure wether to. If I do what kind should I get?
My family has a wifi network, a Mac desktop, 3 Mac laptops (2 MacBook, 1 air), a printer, 3 flat screen Tv's, one Apple TV, 2 sound systems, 3 iPads, 2 iPod touches, and 3 iPhones.
If I did get one what should I do with it?
