Can someone please help me with this mystery?
My wife uses WORD2003 on an XP pc.
She was editing a document (say, apple.doc) using the Track Changes feature that shows editing changes in red. As she finished editing she decided to number her pages; went to Insert/Page numbers. But, strangely, this caused a series of editing notes to appear in red on her document, on the right side of her screen. Each note points to a change she had made in the document.
What are these annotations? What caused them to appear? What use do they serve? How can one make them disappear?
Thanks. ...wdc

Thanks for your help. Let me try to be clearer.
When my wife edits a Word document using the TrackChanges
option in Word2003 she sees the changes she makes in red. That is as expected.
But when she tried to insert page numbers on the document a
whole new set of unexpected annotations appeared in red at the
far right side of the screen. Each annotation takes the form of
a horizontal oval and carries words like "Delete: gold"; and each
oval (annotation block) points to the place in the document where the
word ("gold") was deleted.
My questions relate to these annotation ovals: How does one get rid of them?
And why do they pop-up when she added page numbers?
I <hope> this makes more sense. …. wdc
